Title: Benefit Plan AnalystReports To: Account Services Supervisor Location: East Lansing, MI Department: Employee Benefit Services The Benefit Plan Analyst will provide direct support to activities related to new business quoting and maintenance of renewals in all agency management systems. The Benefit Plan Analyst will collaborate with Sales and Development Specialists and Account Managers to perform financial analyses of employee benefit plans for current and prospective clients and identify potential areas for benefit cost improvement. You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and have excellent communication skills.Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for producing and auditing accurate and timely customer deliverables, quotes, and proposalsEnsures all customer data stored in key systems is auditedDetermines appropriate markets and prepares RFPsWorks with carriers on RFPs and renewal developmentMeets with Service Team to determine plans to quote and proposeStays abreast of carrier products, trends, and quoting practicesAssists the Manager of Employee Benefits Underwriting with department projects as neededEducates self on underwriting guidelines and product information from primary carriersAttends departmental and agency meetings as requiredNegotiates with carriers on behalf of clients to ensure the most competitive pricing is made available for new business RFPs and renewalsCompletes timely follow-up on RFP solicitations Resolves discrepancies and finalizes all RFPs with insurance carriers Prepares claims data evaluations and loss-run reporting as part of Service Team strategy Responsible for documenting financial analysis projects for clientsCompletes benchmarking evaluations as requested by Service TeamManages, tracks, and updates client account structures for reporting needsMaintains account data via regular account maintenancePerforms other duties and projects as requiredRequired Qualifications:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)Minimum two years of relevant work experience in employee benefitsProficient in Excel and Power PointExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate with sales staff regarding employee benefit plans for clientsIn-depth understanding of carrier rate renewal development Regular and timely attendance is an essential job functionDesired Qualifications:
