Job DescriptionTitle: Associate Data Analyst Reports To: IT Data and Development ManagerLocation: East Lansing, MI Department: Information TechnologyThis position is responsible for the development of reports, dashboards, and business solutions. The right individual for this role will be a motivated and energetic individual who takes initiative, enjoys finding solutions to a varying number of challenges, is detail-oriented, and takes extreme pride in their work. The role requires a collaborative mindset to work with peers in the department as well as working with peers outside the department to fulfill the needs of the organization. You are able to interact with a variety of contacts within the organization from business leaders to peers in and out of your department.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create Crystal Report publications, WEBI reports, and PowerBI dashboards for internal teams and/or external clients.
  • Provide data visualizations, dashboards, analysis, extracts, and reporting solutions for the organization.
  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data.
  • Use graphs, infographics, and other methods to visualize data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common report, data, and document creation issues.
  • Prepare and discuss outstanding work tasks with the IT team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of insurance information and exercise prudent discretion in sharing and/or providing such information to those who have a legitimate need to know.
  • Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, financial, or related field or equivalent.
    • 1+ year experience with data analysis
    • Ability to interact and effectively manage relationships with a variety of contacts from business leaders to department peers.
    • Ability to actively listen to requests, clarify objectives, and deliver results.
    • Ability to conceptualize data relationships and identify data discrepancies in order to develop accurate reports and dashboards.
    • Basic knowledge of SQL including SQL Server, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and Views.
    • Experience and proficient use of MS Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent attention to detail.Desired Qualifications:
      • Experience in SAP Business Objects (Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence, and Information Design Tool) or other reporting tools strongly preferred.
      • Knowledge in interactive data visualization produces (Power BI) strongly preferred.
      • Knowledge of software development languages (Python, .NET).
      • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.).Physical Demands / Work Environment Several hours per day at a sit/stand desk, average mobility to move around an office environment; able to spend several hours per day at a computer; occasionally travel to various locations throughout Michigan.
