We offer financial services to MSU and OU faculty, staff, students, alumni association members, and their families as well as a variety of select employee groups.

A day in the life of a Mortgage Projects & Training Coordinator:

The Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator acts in an employee leadership role within the Mortgage and Home Equity departments. This leadership role includes supporting management and Credit Union direction while mentoring others. This position works to ensure that Mortgage and Home Equity employees provide accurate service to the membership in a manner that is professional and engaging and offers members additional products and services to build lasting relationships. This position educates Mortgage and Home Equity department employees so they are supported in their efforts to achieve their goals. The Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator works in collaboration with trainers in other departments to ensure consistency in Credit Union knowledge and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator:

  • Create and provide basic trainings for mortgage and home equity department employees as related to new products and services, in addition to product and service updates
  • Create trainings that are engaging and provide background and direction, in addition to the required product and process information
  • Evaluate employees' skills post-trainings to ensure goals were achieved and make modifications as necessary to ensure quality of trainings
  • Provide ongoing education for products and services through individual instruction, small group trainings, presentations and training others to deliver the information on behalf of the trainers
  • Assess department training needs and make recommendations for training topics
  • Understand the strategic philosophies and mission of the Credit Union and incorporate them into the training process
  • Support Credit Union direction, while helping others to understand the purpose
  • Develop a working knowledge in the areas serviced by the mortgage and home equity departments including but not limited to HMDA reporting, escrow analysis, closing packages, mortgage servicing, tax and insurance follow up, loan documentation requirements, document tracking, etc.
  • Working knowledge and management of vendor programs to maximize efficiency and compliance for CU initiatives
  • Assist in creation of CU Info and SharePoint resource documents
  • Assist with training for business services and lending departments as needed
  • Be a role model by demonstrating initiative, responsibility, professionalism and dependability

Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator II:

  • All of the Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator duties and responsibilities
  • Assist in creating and implementing department incentives to support Credit Union goals; monitor and communicate with management
  • Create, write and publish SharePoint and CU Info documents
  • Use critical thinking skills to solve problems and improve processes, work efficiently and use time effectively
  • Actively participate in department and Credit Union promotions
  • Maintain awareness of department activity and assist where needed
  • Maintain a high level of integrity; treat members and coworkers with courtesy and respect
  • Foster teamwork and a supportive work environment
  • Recognize and seek assistance for complex situations
  • Take initiative within the departments, and seek training opportunities to develop or enhance knowledge.
  • Accept ownership of, and remain current on, all new and existing information, processes and software systems provided by the Credit Union
  • Maintain communication with direct management
  • Participate in training activities within your department and with the learning and talent development department; such training helps to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws
  • Perform special projects and/or research at the request of the Assistant Vice President Lending or Chief Lending Officer
  • Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned

Senior Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator:

  • All of Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator I and II duties and responsibilities
  • Utilize advanced knowledge in the areas serviced by the mortgage and home equity departments including but not limited to HMDA reporting, escrow analysis, closing packages, mortgage servicing, tax and insurance follow up, loan documentation requirements, document tracking, etc.
  • Administration and management of third party vendors including but not limited to Mortgagebot, DocMagic, Mercury Network, Fannie Mae, FICS, Allied Insurance Tracking, CBC Innovis; Datamart
  • Create and provide advanced trainings for the department employees' with a focus on obtaining buy-in on difficult to understand decisions and processes that enhance the employees' performance and service to the members
  • Work with a high level of independence
  • Train and mentor other trainers on how to do the same, in addition to teaching them how to mentor their coworkers within the departments
  • Represent the departments and membership in committee participation actively asking questions and providing input

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Two or more years of financial industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of state and federal lending regulations as follows: Truth-in-Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Housing Act, Flood Disaster Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Rights to Financial Privacy Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Frank Dodd Act, and Regulation Z.

Senior Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator:

  • All of Mortgage Projects and Training Coordinator I and II knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Completion or pursuit of Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Very well versed in government regulations, mortgage and lending procedures; the individual others come to for knowledge
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • High level of sales skills with the ability to develop these in others
  • Leadership skills to maintain department operations in the absence of management
