DNV- Energy Systems Environmental and Permitting Services (EPS) team is growing rapidly, and we are seeking an experienced and collaborative Permitting Manager- Midwest to lead the growth of our comprehensive permitting services in the American Midwest. This position will be located in our Madison, WI ; Dublin, OH ; Nashville,TN ; Detroit, MI Okemos, MI , or Oak Brook,IL officeOur team:The EPS team is comprised of siting, environmental, and permitting specialists who work directly with our customers to help identify and address project risks. Our mission is to guide the sustainable, responsible growth of the renewables industry by providing innovative environmental and permitting expertise to support the greater good.Our work:Our Customers are working to develop a significant pipeline of offshore wind projects. We partner with them to understand the technical risks, guide project siting, conduct environmental studies and stakeholder outreach, file for required permits, and coordinate with agencies in order to advance the widescale deployment of renewable energy. At DNV, we offer a full suite of services to support offshore wind developers, regardless of where they are in the process of bringing a project to fruition. Principally, our team needs to remain nimble, retain our deep expertise, while growing our competency to advise on offshore wind developments.Through this transition, our team is driven by our mission to ensure renewable energy projects are safely and sustainably designed, constructed and installed.Tasks May Include Leverage experience with relevant state siting processes for new and repowered renewable energy projects and facilities, and champion permitting efforts for DNV s clients, including environmental assessments/environmental impact statements, permit application preparation, and management of all wildlife and siting studies; Lead permitting efforts regarding other requirements including Phase I ESAs, Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401, state or federal Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Federal Aviation Administration 7460 filings, and others; Lead stakeholder engagement activities, including attending agency and municipality meetings, open houses and permit hearings, and stakeholder engagement sessions (virtual and in-person); collecting and responding to agency and public comments; coordinating with state and federal resource agencies; Set project milestones for scope, schedule, and budget and ensure milestones are met, as well as manage subcontractors in some instances; Perform technical checking and initial approval of certain work products conducted by staff; Proactively seek out practical and realistic business development opportunities in the Midwest market and prepare or coordinate proposals and bids; Give technical presentations and participate in panel discussions at industry workshops and conferences; and Engage in facilitating innovative and new service offerings to anticipate/meet market needs.Position QualificationsREQUIREMENTS Bachelor s degree in a relevant field, namely land use planning, environmental planning, environmental science/engineering, or environmental law/policy. Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in energy project siting and permitting (Example: Ohio Power Siting Board, Wisconsin Public Service Commission, Minnesota Public Utilities Commission or similar siting boards), with 3 of the 6 years experience in writing environmental permit applications in the renewable energy industry in the Midwest Advanced knowledge of environmental assessment regulatory frameworks. Comprehensive understanding of US wind, solar and battery storage markets; Demonstrated skills in project coordination, agency consultation, and environmental review; and able to establish and maintain good relations with clients and peers. The position requires a team oriented professional with a strong attention to detail. We conduct pre-employment background and drug screening PREFERRED Skills Master s degree in a relevant field, namely land use planning, environmental planning, environmental science/engineering, or environmental law/policy. Experience managing teams, and interest in a people management role Experience leading winning proposal efforts for Customers in the renewable energy industry.
