Program Director, MSU College Advising Corps - Student Services Coordinator/S Job no: 666848 Work type: Support Staff Pay Grade: 14 Major Administrative Unit / College: Vice Pres For Student Affairs & Services Department: Career Services And Placement 10066670 Salary: Salary Commensurate with Experience Location: East Lansing Categories: Full Time (90-100%), Professional Supervisory- APSA, Administrative/Business/Professional, Union Working/Functional Title Program Director Position Summary Leads MSU College Advising Corps activities that establish college-going cultures within schools and communities to ultimately increase college enrollment rates for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. Oversees program budget and grant agreements, develops and manages strategic partnerships, develops operational policies and procedures, and supervises program staff. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Manages complex program budget involving multiple funders and grants. Establishes and enforces policies and procedures per grant requirements and maintains communication and collaborations with funders to ensure compliance. Reviews and submits grant proposals, on an annual basis, to secure funding for the continuation of the program. Establishes program expectations to ensure all staff are meeting AmeriCorps, national and local program requirements. Develops program policies and procedures to increase efficiencies and ensure compliance for audits. Represents the program during state and federal audit reviews. Maintains and expands partnerships with Michigan high schools to place college advisers and ensures compliance with Memorandum of Understanding. Develops strategies to assist high schools in meeting college enrollment goals. Convenes high school site supervisors annually to cover program goals, expectations and supervision requirements. Supervises three full-time central program staff members (one program assistant and two associate program coordinators) and college advisers. Oversees the recruitment and placement process for 35 college advisers (on-call employees) located in high schools around the state of Michigan. Collaborates with university departments and units and high school partners to recruit college adviser candidates. Develops and implements annual four-week residential training program and monthly professional development sessions for college advisers. Collects and synthesizes data to identify strategic goals and priorities in order to ensure program metrics are met. Provides program updates to internal and external partners on key performance measurements through quarterly and final reports. Convenes Michigan State University Dean's Council Advisory Board annually to report on program goals and achievements. Represents the program at on-and-off campus meetings and conferences. Oversees operations in order to maintain quality control and meet deadlines. Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Master's in Student Personnel Administration, College and University Administration, Social Science, Communication, or related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in student affairs programs and services, research design and administration, computer technology, training and development programs; may require experience in specific cross-cultural education, counseling, administration and fluency in a second language; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
