Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support communication access within a school setting in Washington, Illinois. This role involves facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, educators, and peers to ensure an inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation for students and staff during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to accommodate communication needs. Assist in facilitating communication during extracurricular activities and school functions. Travel between assigned schools or locations within the Washington area as needed. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards in all interactions. Desired Qualifications: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills in educational settings. Experience working as a sign language interpreter in a school environment is highly preferred. Ability to travel to multiple locations within the region. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Certification from a recognized interpreting organization is a plus. Location: Washington, Illinois area.
