What Will You Do?
As a Clinical Staff Educator at Pine Rest, you'll be part of
tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your
expertise and compassion. The Clinical Staff Educator is
responsible for assessing the educational needs of the staff and
directing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational
activities. This position also acts as a consultant to and support
for the nursing management team in the areas of professional
practice and delivery of care. The Clinical Staff Educator is
dedicated to excellent customer service, enthusiastic about the
care we offer, and foster a sense of belonging and empowerment in a
diverse workplace.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs and revises educational activities to facilitate behavior
change.
Integrates cultural competence into learning activities.
Facilitates the application of appropriate theories of nursing and
other sciences including the dissemination of current information
and theories necessary to improve quality patient care.
Works in conjunction with unit preceptors and unit manager to
develop a competency-based orientation individualized to new hires
assigned to unit(s)/department(s).
Maintains a flexible schedule to meet learning needs of staff on
all shifts, which may include weekends.
Monitors safety practices and recognizes trends in conjunction with
manager to promote patient safety.
Serves as coach or mentor for less experienced
staff/colleagues.
Serves on key committees/workgroups to identify educational needs
of nursing staff and other clinical team support roles.
Proficiently utilizes a variety of educational approaches including
but not limited to one-on-one instruction, group classes, train-the
-trainer, and audio-visual presentations.
Educate staff to be unit trainers for new equipment, policies and
procedures and provide framework for training/education.
Provides assistance to learners in identification of learning needs
including cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.
Responds to the following Pine Rest codes: Code Green, Blue & Pink
when called and/or in the immediate area.
Perform cyclical reviews of curricula and learning content.
What Does This Role Require?
Education/Experience:
Hold an active license to practice nursing in the state of Michigan
and maintain continuing education units per state licensure
requirements
BSN or BS/BS required
Minimum of 4 years nursing clinical experience required, in
behavioral health preferred.
Minimum of two years teaching experience required.
Experience as a nursing preceptor or in nursing/patient education
required.
Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization in
staff development and/or an appropriate specialty area. Membership
in an appropriate professional nursing organization preferred.
Intermediate experience with computer technology: Microsoft Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams; E-mail platforms and Internet,
required.
Must have or get within 6 months of hire national certification to
be a trainer for non-violent crisis intervention, American Heart
Association BLS CPR certified trainer.
