Job Description:
In alignment with Michigan State University vaccine
requirements, Michigan State University Federal Credit Union

LocationThis position is a hybrid role with a combination of
working both onsite at the Headquarters 1 building in East Lansing
and remotely. A schedule of expected onsite and remote workdays
will be discussed during the interview process.
Position Summary
Under general supervision, but in compliance with established
policies and procedures, performs strategic marketing initiatives.
Assist in the development, research for the
creation/design/writing, and development of member communication,
print publications and brochures, and other promotional materials.
Drives brand equity such as awareness, consideration, and advocacy
through individual marketing pieces or campaigns, social media,
advertorials, press releases, thought leadership, blogs, talking
points, and educational content. Responsible for copywriting and
editorial tasks.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Marketing Specialist I:
- Design member marketing materials
- Select the appropriate target group and key selling points for
each audience
- Responsible for managing products and services offered by the
credit union; plans, writes, and designs marketing materials to
ensure a successful promotion and increased usage by the
members
- Proofread own documents to verify their effectiveness in
conveying the necessary message, correct as to content, grammar,
spelling, and typographical errors
- Coordinate special projects and programs to ensure success of
the products/services/projects/programs
- Prepare and submit ads on-time to various publications
- Represent the credit union at events on campus and in the
community and promote products and services
- Upload current marketing content such as promotions, events,
poll questions, articles, information about marketing events, etc.
to The Loop
- Maintain results and expenses for each marketing campaign
conducted
- Work closely with marketing vendors to ensure timely delivery
and competitive pricing
- Coordinate events by handling the event details, staffing,
preparing the proper materials, promotional items, etc.
- Respond to staff and member questions regarding marketing
promotions
- Participate in training activities within your department or
branch and with the learning and talent development department;
such training helps to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union
policies and state and federal regulations and laws
- Perform other duties and assist other employees, as
assigned
Marketing Specialist II:
- All of Marketing Specialist I duties and responsibilities
- Require less direction for targeting audience and design
- Act as lead on new projects
- Work directly with other departments to lead product
changes/introduction
- Ability to create and produce videos
- Ability to proofread other's work
Senior Marketing Specialist:
- All of Marketing Specialist I and II duties and
responsibilities
- Ability to lead a proofreading team making edits and copy
suggestions to fellow team members' work
- Work efficiently to produce a high-volume of error-free
work
- Assist with training of new team members
- Present and implement ideas for new promotions and
projects
- As necessary, lead project development for all Marketing
Specialists
- Assist other team members with design, headlines, verbiage,
etc.
- Represent the marketing department and your own
products/services at credit union project meetings
Marketing Lead:The Marketing Lead acts in an employee leadership
role within the marketing department. This leadership role includes
supporting management and Credit Union direction, while mentoring
others. This position works to ensure that the marketing employees
complete accurate and engaging marketing materials in a manner that
is consistent with the Credit Union's brand(s) and in a manner
designed to attract and/or retain members and deepen relationships
with members.This position educates marketing employees so they are
supported in their efforts to achieve their goals. The Marketing
Lead also supports marketing management in many of the operational
tasks within the department, helping to ensure successful daily
operations.
- All of Marketing Specialist I, II, and Senior duties and
responsibilities
- Train new team members
- Maintain excellent relationship with vendors and other
partners, and develop the same in other marketing employees
- Support Credit Union direction while helping others understand
the purpose and goals
- Be a role model by demonstrating initiative, integrity,
responsibility, professionalism, and dependability
- Maintain regular communication with Marketing management to
share observations of strengths and areas of development within the
department
- Manage intern program, including create intern work schedule
each semester/summer
- Use critical thinking skills to solve problems and improve
processes, work efficiently, and use time effectively
- Act as a go-to person / person in charge in the absence of
management
- Participate in and lead training in the department, such as
training to write impactful headlines and effective call-to-actions
(CTAs)
- Represent the marketing department (globally) at credit union
project meetings
- Lead department trainings regarding design, headlines,
verbiage, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Marketing Specialist I:
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and
oral, along with the ability to present information effectively to
employees and members
- Bachelor's Degree required; preferred degree in marketing,
visual communications, graphic design, or related major
- Ability to solve problems and handle complex details
- Multi-task orientation to handle a number of projects at
once
- Must be a team player as there are various departments and
personalities to satisfy
- Work requires comprehensive understanding of graphic
design
- Ability to meet deadlines so updates and content are completed
in timely manner
- Knowledge of the Credit Union's savings, checking, ATM, VISA,
IRA, Loans and other services, including rules and regulations,
policies and procedures
- Requires the analytical ability to create reports related to
analyzing successful marketing promotions
- Must be proficient in the following computer programs:
InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Keynote, Microsoft Office
- Ability to meet many deadlines so the publications are
completed in a timely basis
Marketing Specialist II:
- All of Marketing Specialist I knowledge, skills, and
abilities
- Proficient in the software programs
- Increased knowledge of products and services
- Proficient in video editing software
Senior Marketing Specialist:
- All of Marketing Specialist I and II knowledge, skills, and
abilities
- Expert in software programs and video editing
Marketing Lead:
- All of Marketing Specialist I, II, and Senior knowledge,
skills, and abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask
- Must be detail-oriented
- Thorough understanding of Credit Union products, services, and
procedures
- Ability to train others
- Ability to present information effectively to Marketing
employees
- Leadership skills to mentor and assist others
- Leadership skills to maintain department operations in the
absence of management
- Ability to work with limited supervision
ExperiencePreferred
